The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed the re-election of Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as Adamawa State Governor in the 2023 Governorship election.

This followed an appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Aisha Binani, challenging the judgment of the Adamawa State governorship election petition tribunal which affirmed Fintiri’s victory.

Delivering judgment, a three-man panel led by Justice Tunde Awotoye maintained that the appeal was
in contravention of the practice directions of the court, adding that allegations of corrupt practices were not backed by substantial evidence.

“The evidence of the appellants at the tribunal was hearsay evidence which deserves to be ignored.

“I hold that this appeal lacks merit and is dismissed,” the court held.

The court thereafter, directed Binani and APC to pay the sum of N1 million to Fintiri and the PDP for filing a “vague” application.
