The Comptroller-General of Customs, Wale Adeniyi says the service would implement policies to streamline business processes in order to facilitate trade in Kano State.
Adeniyi made this known when he visited the Emir of Kano as part of efforts to assure Nigerians of government’s readiness to tackle the problem of food shortage and other economic challenges.
According to him, arrangements have been made to implement measures to alleviate the current challenge of food scarcity and hardship in Kano through distribution of food items.A
deniyi reiterated the importance of strengthening the bond between the service and the state.
“The country is currently undergoing a security crisis regarding the sorry state of food shortages.
“As a responsible agency, the Nigeria Customs Service is saddled with the responsibility to come up with solutions to such challenges in the country.
“The Federal Government had given a matching order to the service to mitigate the challenges,” he said.
According to him, the service will soon commence distribution of
seized food items to the residents of Kano State,
He said, “We have already kick-started this programme in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria as directed by President Bola Tinubu,”
On collaboration, the customs boss assured the Emir of the service’s readiness to partner with the Emirates Council, adding that, “the service respects the royal institution as custodians of culture.
“The biggest airport in Northern Nigeria is in Kano, we have a dry Port and many other things.”

The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, expressed delight over the comptroller-general’s plans to begin distribution of food items to Kano citizens.
He urged him to ensure that the gesture reached the most vulnerable persons.
According to the Emir, Adeniyi’s determination to help in alleviating the suffering of the people across the federation was an indication of the level of responsiveness of President Tinubu’s led administration.
He stressed on the need for continued dialogue and cooperation between government agencies and traditional authorities.
The Emir assures of the emirate council’s unwavering support for good governance.
