Insecurity: Wike assures FCT residents of safety

The Federal Capital Territory FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has assured resident of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) of efforts to ensure their safety.

Wike, who made this known at an emergency security meeting on Tuesday in Abuja, said his administration was aware of the security situation in the FCT and was working with relevant agencies to arrest the situation.

Quest News reports that the meeting was summoned following the spate of abductions in Bwari Area Council and some other parts of the territory.

“We are all aware of the security situation in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly Bwari and some other areas that we have witnessed security challenges.

“I am also aware that sometimes too, the press overblow what is happening but indeed we owe a duty to make sure that FCT is safe.

“We will do all we can and we assure Nigerians who reside here that there is no need for panic,”he said.

He assured that his administration would give every support required to ensure the safety of Nigerians in the FCT.

The minister called on Council chairmen to live up to their responsibilities.
