Sen. Sani urges new CBN Governor to beware of political farmers, others

Sen. Shehu Sani has called on Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), Mr Olayemi Cardoso to beware of political farmers, particularly those who claim to be rice farmers.

Sani, who was lawmaker representing Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, made the call on his X handle following confirmation of the CBN Governor and four deputy governors by the Senate on Sept. 26.

He said, “avoid political rice farmers, fake pyramids, forex sponges and banking parasites.”

The lawmaker further urged Cardoso to reset the monetary policy as well as find lasting solution to the Naira problem among others.

Quest News reports the Senate at the resumption of plenary after eight weeks of recess, confirmed Cardoso as CBN Governor.

In the same vein, four CBN deputy governors, Muhammad Abdullahi-Dattijo, Emem Usoro, Bala Bello, Philip Ikeazor were confirmed.

The screening centered on strengthening the Naira and finding lasting solution to various economic challenges in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Cardoso, former Citibank Nigeria Chairman while fielding questions from lawmakers, said the new team was prepared to hit the ground running to help mitigate the economic challenges facing the country.

President Bola Tinubu on Sept. 15, approved nomination of Cardoso to serve as Governor of CBN as well as nomination of four deputy governors for a term of five years each.
